Active Lancashire is the strategic lead for sport and physical activity across Lancashire. Their mission is to embed movement into everyday life — improving health, building community resilience and reducing inequality. Working with local authorities, healthcare providers, schools and charities, they deliver programmes that support physical, mental and social wellbeing for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Active Lancashire asked me to create a printed programme for their annual awards evening — an event celebrating the individuals, projects and partnerships making a difference across the region. The programme needed to be functional, well-structured and in line with their visual identity, while still feeling joyful and celebratory.
The challenge was to reflect the energy and optimism of the event while managing practical requirements like schedules, speaker bios and sponsor credits — all within a fixed page count and under a tight turnaround.
Working closely with their marketing lead, I developed a unified summer-themed concept that could flex across all formats. The creative direction centred on bold, typography-led design paired with playful handwritten-style accents, energetic colour pops and a sunny beach backdrop — striking a balance between retail clarity and seasonal energy.
Product imagery from supplied links was manually clipped in Photoshop to ensure clean, high-quality visuals for each featured item. Layouts were built to keep the 10% OFF offer prominent, while also making it easy for customers to identify the product categories included in the promotion.
I designed a vibrant, image-led layout with strong typographic hierarchy to help guests navigate the evening with ease. The booklet followed the awards running order, interspersed with spotlights on nominees, sponsors and standout achievements.
Active Lancashire’s friendly, inclusive tone was central to the design — with a bright colour palette, accessible typography and full-bleed photography creating a piece that felt equally at home on an event table or kept as a memento. The pacing was carefully planned to keep readers engaged and make every nominee feel celebrated.
