CHRIS REDDY, BRIGHT LEADERS (FOUNDER)
Bright Leaders delivers values-driven leadership programmes for children and young people in schools. Their workshops and resources build self-belief, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and resilience, equipping the next generation with the confidence to lead, listen, and grow.
Partnering with schools across the UK, Bright Leaders embeds leadership into everyday learning through structured, engaging programmes rooted in empathy, creativity, and community.
I’ve worked with Chris from Bright Leaders for many years, refining and elevating his learning materials as the programme has evolved. For this project – a refreshed Learner to Leader booklet, the aim was to produce an engaging, interactive resource for pupils taking part in the scheme.
The booklet would be printed and distributed across participating schools, so it needed to be:
It also had to reflect the programme’s core values, being confidence, communication and empathy while staying clear of overly corporate or juvenile design tropes. The challenge was to bring structure and pacing to the content while keeping the visuals engaging and age-appropriate.
Chris provided a detailed, well-structured Word document with the content in place. From there, I took the lead on the visual direction- transforming the raw copy into a clean, engaging 24-page layout that balanced clarity with warmth.
To strike the right tone, I used a calm, confident typographic system and a flexible grid, giving space for reflection without feeling sparse. Colour overlays, image treatments, and a consistent icon system were developed to:
This approach ensured the design was visually cohesive, easy to use, and inviting for a school-age audience.
The final result was a 24-page A4 workbook – structured, approachable, and visually engaging. Suitable for guided facilitation or independent use, the booklet is now a central resource for pupils in the Learner to Leader programme.
Delivered in both print-ready and screen-optimised PDF formats, it’s ready for ongoing use across participating schools.
